Madekwe, a British-Nigerian mixed race child was born into a family in South London. She's English but her father is Nigerian. Her family was raised on a South London council estate and when she was 14she enrolled in The Brit School. At the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is where she obtained a BA degree in acting.
