Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe, a British-Nigerian mixed race child was born into a family in South London. She's English but her father is Nigerian. Her family was raised on a South London council estate and when she was 14she enrolled in The Brit School. At the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art is where she obtained a BA degree in acting. As a student at the academy, she appeared in numerous stage productions including the King Henry V as Princess Katherine and Wuthering Heights as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started acting in Storm Damage. Since then, she's appeared as a guest on Teachers, Doctors, Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's breakthrough came in 2007's Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream. It was opposite Colin Farrell (who played the role of Cassandra) as well as Ewan McGrath. After this success, Madekwe was cast as Elisha in The BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN as well as in six episodes Trexx as well as Flipside. In 2008, she got Bambi's part on the ITV2 Drama The Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Secret Diary of a Call Girl. She appeared in the series 2 and 3. Madekwe also appeared on the comedic How to Lose Friends and to annoy people (2008). The credits on stage for Madekwe are Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe's US debut was in 2009 when she appeared on the dramatic The Beautiful Life. The show aired just two episodes prior to being removed from The CW. In February 2011, she was cast in the role of Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. Madekwe was in the episodes of the show's second season as a regular. In May of 2013, it was announced that word broke that the actress would be departing the show following her guest appearance in the opening episode for its third season. From 2014 until 2016, she starred in Salem on the CW as Tituba. Madekwe, along with her boyfriend who has been with her for a long time, Iddo Goldenberg, were married in June 2012. They've collaborated in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl as well as he has also appeared alongside Madekwe in the television series Salem.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. Her family included both parents Roy and Patty as well as four of their older brothers: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley's brothers, who were all very athletic, played hockey in the winter and baseball during the summer, so she basically grew up in arenas and baseball parks. Ashley could never walk, however she did dance. As she was two and a half, she took up Baby Ballet and fell in love. Ashley fell in love with dance at this age. Ashley participated in the top divisions for jazz, tap ballet, hip hop, the lyrical musical theatre, acrobatics and pointe, until she finished from high school. Ashley took home the best soloist award at every major dance contest, which included International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more, just to mention a few.
